Why is coaching necessary?
Input is essential for language acquisition. Many people, despite not having a good understanding of grammar, request lessons that focus on conversation (output), but this is an inefficient way to learn. Of course, if you can handle the input completely on your own, it is fine to have lessons that concentrate on conversation, but in over 90% of cases, people are just satisfied with the lessons and neglect input. For this reason, the result is that they do not improve much even if they continue to study for a long time. Self-study (input) is hard work, but if you have the support of a coach, you will be able to naturally develop study habits. If you are not good at developing your own study habits, this can be a very effective method.

When I learned English, I did this through conversation (output), so shouldn’t this be the same for Japanese?
Many people think that because they learned English mainly through output, that it should be the same for Japanese. However, in the case of English, for many people the basics were input during their student days, and so they did not learn purely through output. Additionally, Japanese and English grammar structure is different, and many aspects of grammar and vocabulary have very Japanese-specific meanings. Moreover, as there is the culture of varying the way we speak depending on the other party, if you neglect input, this may make people uncomfortable during everyday life or business scenarios. You should understand that there are big differences between studying English and studying Japanese.
Advice from OHANA
People living in Japan, in particular, should prioritize input.
With language, we can only normally listen and comprehend the words and grammar that we know. People living in Japan are in an environment where they can hear Japanese all around them every day. Additionally, if they look around them, they can see Japanese written there. For this reason, just living becomes a learning experience. However, people who neglect input, the words you hear and see will be like puzzles that you cannot decode. For example, if you see the Japanese “ここに入るな”(do not enter), you need to recognize that it combines the verb “入る”(a group 1 verb meaning “enter”) with “な” that expresses something prohibited. If you prioritize making your everyday experiences learning opportunities, you will be able to significantly improve the efficiency of your learning.

Report on your daily learning status
Reporting will help you maintain motivation, and if you are unable to learn as well as you would like, your teacher will be able to propose ways of improving this.
-
02
You can ask questions at any time.
If there is something that you do not understand, you ask the teacher right away. We can also provide follow-up support in English, Chinese, or Korean, etc.

Unlimited viewing of lesson videos
You can watch the lesson videos that come with the original textbooks as much as you like. Listening will also help you learn the pronunciation of the Japanese written in the textbooks.
